Boycotting Israel by the Antisemites

The latest Antisemites to issue a boycott of Israeli goods and services is the Transport & General Workers Union.

As Melanie Phillips once pointed-out, if you complain about criticism of Israel being "Antisemitic" then you are held as an example of someone who always calls criticism of Israel "Antisemitic" thereby seeking to deny you a voice of protest on the basis that you are seeking to deny free speech. Your protest is the proof they seek.

An excellent item from Engage http://www.engageonline.org.uk/blog/article.php?id=1234 carries an e-mail to the boycotters of Israel Academics (UCU) pointing-out that the tone of their language and singling-out of Israel when other contries are more excessive in the things they accuse Israel of doing, are left out.

The conclusion is that the boycott is based on Antisemitism.

When a air-head contestant on Big Brother used the "N" word in conversation with a Black House Mate she pleaded that she wasn't being racist. Millions of Black & White people told her she was. It WAS a racist remark but one concedes that she didn't think it was racist.

Any Black person could explain to her why it is definitely a racist comment. Use that word against a non-Black person and the hurt may not be felt at all. It means MORE to someone who is Black than someone who is white.

The same with Antisemitism. We have people like George Galloway and Ken Livingstone who's comments and hatred towards Israel can seem like Antisemitism if you are a Jew. In fact, they may BE Antisemitic in the perspective of  Jew, while not intended by the person who said it.

If you suggest that Jews are living comfortably in Golders Green while they get the UK to go to war for them them then that is demonstrably Antisemitic by invoking the imagery of the Protocols of The Elders of Zion on the wealth of Jews and how they control the World.

But to many people (and people who I have read on MPAC UK) these are perfectly reasonable charges to make. They will somehow claim they are against "Zionists" not Jews. It so happens that they point ONLY to Zionists who ARE Jews, and they can't actually prove that these Jews are Zionists. You can argue they can't be if they choose to live in Golders Green and not Tel Aviv.

So, I find all the boycott's to be founded on Antisemitism whether the idiots who voted for boycotts meant it or not. You can ONLY say that "I didn't think what I said was Antisemitic". You will have to let the recipient judge that.

Meanwhile, the new UK Foreign Secretary has spoken out against boycotts of Israel. http://www.engageonline.org.uk/blog/article.php?id=1235

They harm the standing of the UK and actually don't achieve anything. As has been pointed out so many times, the boycotters can't actually boycott goods manufactured or designed in Israel. They would have to live in a cave with no electricty to do that.
